2020 started off much like the
past dozen years since we retired. Here we are Roaming through
Mexico on a road trip to Union de Tula, El Gurro and Tapalapa in
the mountains of western Jalisco. It was less than a week but filled with
great memories of wonderful attractions, gracious people and delicious
food. |

February delivered quite the
shock. Glorine had a hemorrhagic stroke on February 10. Our
daughters, Carmen and Denise, flew in to spend time with her at the
hospital and at our home where she was on bed rest for ten days and home
bound up till COVID HIT. Thanks to a quick response and great care
from doctors and hospital staff, she has made a full recovery |

This would be our first year
living full time anywhere since we retired in 2007. The downside, this
pandemic ended our long standing tradition of being with our
grandchildren on their birthdays. Ajijic has been a wonderful
place for us to be sequestered. Recently, Ajijic became a
Pueblo Magico (Magic City). There are only 132 other cities in all
of Mexico that receive this honor. Yes, Ajijic has its charm! |

In April, Glorine and two
other ladies (a Canadian and a Mexican) started FoodBank Lakeside in
response to COVID-19. On April 6, FBL gave out 57 despensas
(pantries in English) which are non-perishable food items. Each despensa has
enough food to feed a family of four for a week. To date, FBL has
given out over 12,000 despensas, all thanks to the generosity of local
foreigners and a group of 40+ awesome volunteers.

With us living here full time,
we decided to do some home improvement projects. This included having
our roof replaced, air conditioning units installed in our living room
and bedroom, installed six solar panels and turned an unused lawn
into a patio we dubbed our COVID-19 entertainment center. |

Once Glorine got the okay to
do some exercise in July, we started taking Sunday morning bike rides
along Lakeside. We have some great bike paths, along with lots of
cobblestone streets to explore neighborhoods we had never seen before.
A typical trip was between 12 to 26 miles. |
|
In early October, we took our
first and only extended road trip to Texas to do some shopping for some
hard to find items, get our meds refilled and some sightseeing along
the way. Here we are in the state of San Luis Potosi, Mexico
enjoying the beauty of crystal clear water running off the nearby
mountains. |

Larry took this new found
time to finish a book he started writing in 2018. He had been
journaling things he was learning from the Everyday Mindfulness
discussion group he had been attending since 2007. This along with lots
of reading, reflecting and researching. Larry is gifting 100 percent of the
proceeds from the books sale to the Lake Chapala Society and FoodBank
Lakeside. For more information, click here:
