Open Circle, a traditional Sunday
morning event held on the LCS campus returned with limited seating after a
long shutdown Friend, John Stokdijk presented the Great Pause, which
were his thoughts on COVID! |
A new tradition called Concerts in
the Park started as both a fun raiser and fundraiser. This table honors
those of us who donated money to keep the doors opened while the LCS campus was
closed. |

|
Brandon and James, who we had
seen at Larry's birthday in 2019, were the headliners and did another
awesome job wooing the crowd. |
Guests had their temperature checked
upon entry, were required to social distance, and wear masks. It was easy
to do. |
|
|
Larry did a bit of wagering on
the Super Bowl (500 pesos, about $25). He didn't really care who won, but
when it was over, he won the jackpot--3,000 pesos. |
Off to LAX, where Carmen picked us up
around noon and drove us to Cal State LA, where we got our first COVID vaccine,
which happened to be Pfizer. |
|
|
Our appointments were scheduled
for 6:00 pm, but Carmen wanted to get to the campus early to see the "lay of
the land" and then get a bite to eat. |
We arrived at about 2:00, and were
directed to get in line, along with hundreds of other cars inching their way
through a maze set up throughout the campus and this parking structure. |
|
|
We are in one of nine rows of
cars, about ten deep, all anxiously waiting the BIG event. |
Each row had its own generator to
keep the vaccine at the appropriate temperature. |
|
|
The
entire event was staffed by National Guard, FEMA and regular Army medics who
made the experience wonderful. |
Two and one/half hours later, we had
gotten our shot, waited the required 20 minutes to make sure we had no reaction,
and were off to Carmen's for a short two day stay. |
|
|
At home, we found Dakota had
grown taller than Carmen and catching up with Mike. |
We got Hunter a Virtual Reality
gamer, with joysticks to play any number of different games. |
|
|
Hunter put the setting on "1" so
Larry could win at least one game. |
Back to Mexico and a trip to Hospital
San Javier, where Glorine had her final medical exam. |
|
|
Glorine had another MRI with
contrast, which showed the hematoma had scarred over, no signs of tumors and
no atrophy, which is normal for people our age. |
We spent the night in Guadalajara and
dined out at a fine French restaurant. We arrived early and were the only
customers. We were well taken care of. |
|
|
The next day, we spent some time
hiking in this enormous park in the northern edge of Guadalajara. |
The
park had multiple walkways and trails, including bridges over other walkways,
rivers and ravines. |
|
|
We got to watch Chase and Clara
play ice hockey on Facebook. We are still trying to figure out the rules of
the game, which were all fast and furious. |
Friends Dennis and Betty braved cold
weather and COVID to go to the Bismarck Barnes and Nobel to get a copy of
Larry's book, shelved with other local authors. Thank you all for your
support! |
