We joined about 250 people to take in this mostly all female Mariachi band
from California which performed at the Lake Chapala Society. Their first time here. |
The band from Guadalajara played
more traditional music, but they still rocked the house. Near the end, this area
was filled with people dancing to the music. |

Glorine is working to expand the Career Day project she created four years
ago to this technical school located near Ajijic--set for late
March of 2019. |
The monthly 'Behind the Walls' home
tour took us to some exclusive homes. This one had a cool casita with one
of the most efficient kitchen/dining layouts. |
|
|
This expanded sliding door opening is becoming more common, but still quite
impressive. It makes the indoor living space and outdoor patio one
large 'cool' room. |
The
birthday boy did not want a cake, so Glorine put her culinary skills to work and
created this berry extravagance-- Par Excellence! |
|
|
Another day, another anniversary. This time it was with friends Mark
and Bernice (in black). We were introduced to another one of Ajijic's finer
restaurants. |
Lip-Sync is an annual event with
retirees lip-syncing to songs. However, these young dancers stole the
show with a not so classic ballet about cell phones. |
|
|
Larry got to celebrate his birthday along with other friends who were also
born in January. With this being the high season, we had lots of
people attending. |
Ricardo and Blanca, have entertained us for the past
ten years and provided the music for the January
birthday bash. Nicely done!! |
|
|
Larry saw this saying and thought it was cute enough to share. Only dreamers
would think to put this as a part of our website. |
Randy and Andy invited
friends to join them at a restaurant to celebrate their anniversary then on to
their home for cocktails |
|
|
Glorine has organized a 'women's luncheon' with friends she has made over
the past decade. The group meets monthly at a local restaurant and is
growing to include new friends. |
Bare Stage is a theatric performance
with no set. The interesting thing about this play is there are six actors but
only two characters. Five actors played one character at 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70
years of age. |
|
|
We had a gas shortage that lasted a month, but only effected a few Mexican
states. Larry is approaching the gas station after waiting in line
for a mile. |
The
gas shortage didn't stop us from heading to the beach to meet up with friends
wintering in Melaque, about 30 miles north of Manzanillo. |
|
|
We interrupted this brown Pelican convention as we walked the beach in
Melaque. This type of Pelican can be found as far away as the
Galapagos Islands. |
Larry is still figuring out how to
take a selfie. And although his finger was in the picture, it came out
good enough to include in Roaming through Retirement. |
|
|
We met David and Karen on the Mexico City Christmas tour we took in 2015 and have been staying in touch with them ever since.
|
Night life in Melaque is quieter than in Ajijic but the food is just as great. |
|
|
We were introduced to 'ocean-aerobics' which is quite interesting especially
when the waves swell up to your neck and then pull you into the ocean on the
way out. |
Life in the day of beach dwellers.
While they have homes near San Francisco and Ajijic, they love spending two
months each year in Melaque. |
|
|
We stayed in their fully equipped apartment with the
surf outside their windows, lulling us to sleep at night. |
The sunsets along the Pacific are a spectacular sight with these out
cropping of islands at the end of the bay. |
