From Sticks and Bricks to a Life on Wheels
Here is a toast to our last night in our Boise home and the beginning of another major mile stone in our lives--full time RVing. We have our condo on the market and spent lots of time deciding how to dispose of our lifetime of possessions, most of which will go to our daughters, Goodwill, Craig's List, etc. What remains will go into our motor home and a 5'x5' storage unit somewhere in the Midwest. Roaming through retirement has given us two years to break the ties to our work life, which is what brought us to Boise back in 1997. In addition to preparing for our new life style, we spent a lot of time saying farewell much as we did when we left Lexington, Portland, Bismarck and St. Cloud--the other places we had the privilege to call home. Once the condo sells, this will no longer be home but hopefully the friendships we have made here will last a lifetime.

We will continue updating our website and sharing our adventures. In return we ask you drop us a line from time to time to let us know what is happening in your lives. To share, click here Larry and Glorine.

Yes, it was painful to give up some of our stuff, like our beautiful furniture, high school year books, awards, old school desks from Larry's one-room school house, Glorine's car, etc. But now that we know where most of this stuff is going, we feel liberated and are ready for our new life style--an opportunity of a lifetime to be with family and friends when ever we want and to continue our quest for new adventures. In addition to downsizing, we also took time to do some repairs to get the condo looking a bit more presentable. Thanks to Steve, our friend and next door neighbor, we removed an oversize tree root that buckled our sidewalk. While normally this should have been done by the Home Owners Association, they would not have gotten to it until July, so Steve and Larry did the heavy lifting and got it done in a day.

May is graduation time and we had the opportunity to celebrate it with our friend Tony's daughter Becka. She received a degree in engineering from Boise State University. We first met Becka when she was 13 and watched her grow and develop into a bright young lady with a great future a head of her. We wish her and all the other graduates of 2009 the very best. We also had the opportunity to catch up with about a dozen colleagues and friends that we made while in Boise. Here is Larry enjoying time with Cathy Hampton who was his special assistant while he worked at Boise State University. Larry was happy to be surrounded by so many talented and dedicated people. Cathy, along with most of the people that reported directly to Larry are now apart of a new community college that assumed responsibilty over the Larry Selland College, which Larry directed while at Boise State.

While our pontoon is now being used for entertaining people in Minnesota, we still got in some time on Lucky Peak Resevoir with friends Ron and Marilyn Melchorie. Ron is also retired. Marilyn is working at the new community college. Cruising Lucky Peak bought back so many memories of our ten years of summer entertaining on the lake. Lucky Peak is one of many treasures we will miss. Along with our friends, it is places like Lucky Peak; the Green Belt (a bike path where we rode along the Boise River); Bogus Basin (a ski lodge 20 miles north of Boise where we spent our winters down-hill skiing), and the natural beauty of Idaho that we will miss. The nice thing about full time RVing, is that we will be back to continue enjoying it.
