After storing the RV in Desert Hot Springs, we spent a couple of days with Larry's sister Claudia and Lou at their winter home in Earp, CA, along the banks of the Colorado River. About 15 miles north of their home is Parker Dam, "the deepest dam in the world" and home to Lake Havasu. | These critters are among the 500 or so wild burros that roam freely along the river banks of the Colorado River straddling California and Arizona. With over 100 days of 100 degree temperatures, these guys love these parts. That is why most folks only winter here. |

Our next stop was near Tucson to visit friends Dennis and Nancy. Unfortunately, Nancy was visiting her mom in South Dakota. We had a great time with Dennis--hot tubing, long walks and lots of cards. His "tiny house" is still a work in progress, with the interior nearly completed. | After a flawless and uneventful border crossing, we drove a third of the way to Ajijic and spent the night in Guaymas, the largest seaport for the state of Sonora. As we took an evening stroll from the hotel to the Sea of Cortez, we saw this baby chick all dress up in pink--ready for Christmas. |

Another third of the way to Ajijic, we spent the night in Mazatlan--a great tourist destination, with hotels, restaurants and night clubs lining the beach front. | After a nice walk on the beach, we took advantage of one of those restaurants and got some mighty fine fresh shrimp--then back for a walk along the beach during sunset. |

We made it to Ajijic by noon on the third day, got the keys to the house and started the process of moving in. It is the middle of November and this is the view we get to enjoy each morning from our bedroom window. | Friend Lil threw a big party at a local restaurant for her brother, Brian, visiting from the Philippines. Live music, lots of friends--what a great way to get back into the swing of things back here in Mexico. |

Kat Miller presented on the "third act," which most of us retirees are living out here in Ajijic. And how we can use all the experiences we bring to this community and enjoy the most authentic times of our lives. | We had a fun and successful day with friend Rose and her daughter Patty. After three stops at different government agencies in Guadalajara, we got the right paperwork for our car. And some think they have it bad in the USA! |

Rock'n More was a hit. Set to the music of the 50s and 60s, the evening raised lots of money for a local charity and provided us with a fun night of entertainment filled with dancing and more. | Pastor Tim (far right) and his wife Arlene hosted an American Thanksgiving dinner for about 50 people at their home, which is also the Center for Spiritual Living. Note all the wonderful religious symbols overhead. |

|
During Thanksgiving, we met this couple in their late 30s. He is from New Zealand and she from New York and they are traveling around the world, mostly by car. From here they were heading to South America. "Early Roamers!?" | One of several great bands can keep anyone who wants to, dancing every night of the week. One popular place is Adilita's and the performers are Noe and the band. He has a new trumpet player who also sings a great Louis Armstrong. |

One of the challenges of retiring in a foreign country is access to affordable quality health care. While Mexican healthcare is good, our insurance doesn't cover us here. So if a serious emergency occurs, we got SkyMed to fly us home (Minnesota) and to some of the finest hospitals in the world. | While we will always have our challenges, it is all the opportunities we have in or nearby Ajijic that we thrive on. Within one block of our home is this huge hot tub, a heated pool, club house and an unbelievable number of activities within the community. It's not hard adjusting to this lifestyle. |
November's web page includes November 1 through November 30.
