We spent two weeks in California
with Carmen and family and also did shopping for those hard to find things in Mexico.
The Malecon in Chapala is filled with interesting ways to attract tourists
into their establishment. No, Porky the Pig was not on the menu.
While Ajijic has had attempt at
recycling in the past, a new committee was formed to hopefully make it a reality.
We attended the Recycling Fiesta to learn more.
Connections Among Friends attracted 120 people to learn about a new hospital
that just opened.
Hospital San Antonio has ten beds and
is fully equipped with three surgical units and a dialysis unit.
Lake Chapala Society had a great send off for Terry Vidal, its first
executive director who just finished his 11th year on the job.
Thanks
to Terry, Larry chaired LCS's Master Campus Plan and facilitated a work
session to establish its annual priorities.
Out and about with friends (here with Karen and David) takes up at least three
evenings each week. Retirement is hard hard work!
Back in California, where the weather
shifted from very hot, to cool and extremely windy. Even some fires in the
area. But it was all fun!
Sierra got up, showered, got dressed and climbed back into bed for her
traditional 'breakfast in bed' to celebrate her 12th birthday.
The junior high school has an amazing
performance arts center where Sierra performed in a musical while we were there.
Carmen has been dedicated to an extreme 30 minute workout each morning.
This workout includes pushups and
pull-ups. She successfully does her exercise six day a week.
Dakota turned 14 and Carmen wanted to pick her up and cradle her like a
baby, but to no avail.
She is now taller than Carmen and is turning into a very fine young lady.
"Three Generation's Girls Night Out" (grandma, daughter and granddaughters)
went to an outdoor concert. It was a full day concert, but we were there to
listen to Joan Jett sing "I Love Rock n Roll".
While the girls are now asserting their independence by eating MEAT, they
chose this sushi restaurant for one of their birthday meals out.
Sierra still had room for this
humongous dessert, after devouring three different sushi dishes. Actually,
she shared part of it with us.
Dakota got her money's worth by
ordering three of the largest items on the menu, followed up with dessert!
And yes, she shared hers also.
Dakota's first class is at 6:45 in
the morning, which meant she, too, was ready to walk out the door after
breakfast in bed.
We had our annual eye exam at the college where Carmen works and found this
sign very interesting.
All dressed up in their Halloween
customs, we started the hunt for lots of candy.
The neighborhood Carmen lives in goes all out for Halloween. One home set up this
reenactment of Michael Jackson's Thriller. It was just Awesome!
Larry
and Mike got into these customs, which should have read Dork 1 and Dork 2.
No that is not John's real hair.
We attended Fullerton
HS football, but came to watch Dakota
perform for the half-time entertainment.
Sierra has been playing soccer since
she was in the first grade. Thank God for shin guards.
Hunter joined Grandma Glorine in a cooking class, where they learned how to
decorate cookies. There was more frosting on the cookies than the
cookie itself.
We gifted these couches to Carmen
when we sold our home in Boise ten years ago. They have since seen there
days and in the market for a new home.
October's web page includes October 1 through October 31.
