After ten days with Carmen's family, we went to Claudia and Lou's, who
winter in Earp, California along the Arizona border. We drove to Havasu City and got a
glimpse of the famed London Bridge in the background. |
Their
RV park sits along the mighty Colorado River--the life blood for some 40 million
people in Southwestern USA. Parker Dam is one of 14 dams that diverts the water as needed. |
|
|
After playing lots of cards and visiting our money at local casinos, we
enjoyed a drive through the desert that is home to hundreds of these
wild burros. |
From
California, Glorine flew back to Ajijic to oversee new developments in our home purchase and
to attend fun events like this fundraiser Maureen helped organize. |
|
|
Friend Carol Dickinson has been a God send to and for us. We are
"house sitting" her beautiful home while we finish some projects in our new
home before moving in. |
While Glorine flew south, Larry headed to Florida to pick up the RV and while there, spent time with
Kentucky friends Scott and Lois who were wintering near Tampa. |
|
|
The boys decided to ride the Pinellas Bike Trail that runs 38 miles along the Gulf.
With high winds and a few
microbreweries, they didn't make is all the way. |
On Honeymoon Island State Park, they gawked at this Osprey dining on fresh "fish fillet"
made to order. The bird had to pick it up, of course. |
|
|
Over a thousand miles of windshield
time, Larry took short breaks to visit a river
boat casino in Baton Rouge and the USS Lexington docked off Corpus
Christi. The RV is stored near McAllen, Texas until we head to North Dakota and Minnesota this spring. |
With so many snowbirds and so many packing to head north, we spent
breakfast, lunch and dinner saying farewell to friends. Here it was Brian and Marilyn's
turn. Chuck, Jean, and us will be turning off the lights! |
|
|
Here we are having a late lunch with Peter and Sybilla, discussing the pros
and cons of buying here in Ajijic. Who knows, they may follow suit and
buy here, too. |
We saw this Irish poem hanging in Carol's home that Larry took a
fancy to. He had repeated it so many times, he things he owns it. It
was by Anonymous! |
|
|
March birthdays were celebrated along with St. Patrick's Day. Here Glorine celebrated with others who were able to stay up past midnight.
That's 9:00 pm in Ajijic. |
No, it's not a fancy hotel in Ajijic. It is a three-bedroom residence which was on the
Home Tour fundraiser. The kitchen was over the top. |

This home won the contest for the most masques on this particular home tour.
We ruled out the masques for our home, but loved the squash and red colors! |
After the home tour, all the ticket holders got a free Margarita for "their
wear". Brian and Larry were drivers. They must be "minced meat".
No drinks!! |
|
|
Friends joined Glorine for another birthday celebration at an awesome
restaurant in the boonies east of Ajijic. The food, view and company
were worth the trip. |
This
is a view into our "soon-to-be" enclosed four season seating and formal dining
area. The roof needs to be raised to secure it from leaking on guests. |
|
|
Friend Jim, far right, hosted an impromptu farewell get together for some
soon to be snowbirds. Nice thing about Ajijic, impromptu falls
together pretty easy. |
We
don't play the "one-armed bandits" often, but it is peculiar that we would get another
big win on this same machine. Remember pesos so when you do the conversion
it is not much money. |
|
|
Our first day at the Spa in San Juan Cosola with new and "experienced"
friends. It was quite warm and all the hot tubs, steam caves, mud
baths made it warmer. |
But
there is nothing like a "LARGE" cool Margaritas to make everything fine again.
This along with an awesome Fillet Mignon hit the spot. |
|
|
We got to have a wonderful farewell dinner with friends Alan and Carol
Bensman from Minnetonka Minnesota before they took off in the wee hours of the next
morning. |
We
are proud of the many friends we have and the things we do here all winter long,
but waking up each morning to these and other song birds makes us want to pinch
ourselves. |
|
|
And plants like these that bloom year 'round are just spectacular. Not
only pretty, they are large! |
And
best of all, is saying farewell to another sunset--this off our new rooftop
patio. Yes, life is very good. |
