Autumn brings out a spectacular beauty in Mother Nature and one last slow pontoon cruise around the lake gave us many glimpses of this beauty. October was jam packed with family and friends before heading back to Boise and getting ready for another winter in Mexico. This website and our email will be our primary way to communicate, so please click here to keep us updated. Larry and Glorine.

After displaying there beauty, these beautiful leaves fall to the ground to make children happy and make lots of work for their parents (and/or grand parents). | We winterized and stored the RV in Minnesota, rather than hauling it over the Rockies and back to the Midwest again next year.
It is not quite shrink wrapped but hopefully this tarp will keep out most of Minnesota's snow. | Baby Chase will be shedding the "baby" part of his name as he has nearly doubled his weight in the six weeks since his birth.
Enjoying and relaxing on the hammock on an especially beautiful autumn day with little Clara--precious! | During a quick trip to North Dakota to visit family and friends, we learned that friends Wayne and Ellen Boekes will joining us in Ajijic for a couple of weeks this winter.
Bob and Francie were back from Nebraska to spend time with her sister whose health was failing. Fortunately, she had a turn around. So we took advantage and had a farewell breakfast with Jack and MaryAnn. Click to enlarge. | From there we spent a couple of weeks in California beginning with a conference Carmen was attending in Palm Springs. It was extremely warm so the extensive water pools offered a refreshing time with the grand kids.
While Carmen was attending the conference, we snuck off to the Children's Museum of the Dessert. It was an interactive museum where kids had access to all of the displays. Shopping, art time, pizza making and being a motorcycle cop were just a few of the events that were on exhibit. | Sierra has gone through a remarkable transformation since we seen her only a month earlier. She has a remarkable personality and great temperament. And is turning one year old.
October is Halloween and that means pumpkin carving time and Trick or Treat time. Here Dakota helped by picking out the eyes, nose and mouth. Great job, if I may say so myself. Click to enlarge. | Carving is hard work, so instead Larry was given two dozen persimmons from Carmen's back yard to paint freaky faces. Click to enlarge.
Carmen's workplace went all out in inviting the children of staff and students to Trick or Treat in a safe environment. Here is Dakota and Sierra posing in one of several Halloween displays. Click to enlarge. | Hay, Hay, Hay--she is walking. Yes, Sierra is trying out her new found skill walking. In this picture she walked between Daddy (Mike) and Nana (Glorine). By now she must be running!!
In addition to walking, Sierra is also learning how to swim. Here she is with her daddy in a group lesson and just loves the water. Dakota has advanced to private swim lessons and is unbelievable to watch. | Now that she is the ripe old age of three, Dakota is taking up T-ball. This is her first day at try outs, so we will be watching how she does.
Nana gets some alone time with little Sierra before the company rolls in to help celebrate her first birthday. | With Dakota and Sierra's birthdays being four days a part, they had one BIG celebration for both. Included was a Princess Jumping tent, birthday cakes and lots of new toys to play with.
After a long birthday celebration, all of Dakota's and Sierra's grand parents (Papa, Nana and Grandma Bonnie) relaxed with them to watch a movie. Click to enlarge. | Back in Minnesota, we joined Denise, Clara and Chase in a church sponsored Halloween Party. Here Clara is playing with one of a many different play stations and filling her basket with more candy than she could eat in a year.
While Clara was Trick or Treating, Chase was relaxing in the arms of Grandma Glorine. "Ahh, this is nice." | October is prime time for picking apples from hundreds of apple orchards in the Twin Cities. Here we are taking a tractor ride around the orchard. It was a beautiful fall day and the location had spectacular vistas of the Minnesota river valley.
Here Clara is wondering if it is really OK to pick an apple. She did and shared it with all of us. Click to enlarge. | At the rate that Chase is growing, he may be as big as Grandpa Larry when we return from our trip to Mexico. Luckily we have SKYPE (an audio/video program on our computer) to watch and talk to them over the next six months. |
October's web page includes October 1 through October 31, 2008.
