After our world-wind tour of the Midwest and Northwest, we spent a month back home in Boise. Our time was filled--catching up with friends and acquaintances, attending the Boise State football games/tailgate parties, and hitting the gym. However, our primary focus was on planning the next phase of our retirement which is a "big" adventure throught the Southwest. We will be in California for three weeks, Arizona for one week, back to California, then on to Hawaii for two weeks and then Mexico for four months.

It has been another exciting season of college football. This picture was taken the day before we left on our trip and our last home game of the season. It was with the University of Nevada, which Boise State won, but only after four overtimes. | Getting to California was an adventure in itself. We got "trapped" on Nevada's back roads with all those casinos so conveniently located for us to stop and gamble-so we did! One night in Winnemucca and one in Hawthorne. We didn't win but sure had fun trying.
Larry wanted to call this picture the "before and after" shot of Glorine. One at 59 and one at 79, but Glorine said no. This lady is one of the many "locals" that is well know at Hawthorne casinos. She was a hoot! | Here is another colorful character that trucks with his wife as his partner. This was a lucky night for him. His tray was filled to the brim with silver dollars (which you don't see much in many casinos any more) and his wife was helping herself by feeding the machine next to him-and losing.
Creative housing?! It is surprising what one runs into on their travels. Here is a yacht, literally dry docked in the middle of the desert. It has a walk-in patio and a shop tied into the back side. | While most of the trip through Nevada was a bit desolate, we did enjoy driving through the Sierra Nevada Mountains. They were spectacular. |
We left Boise on Monday, October 15 and arrived in California on Wednesday, October 17, 2007.
