This is our summer home. In Spanish it is our Casa de Verano or Vay-raw-no, for short. We picked her up on Monday, April 5, and along with playing a lot, we spent most of April transitioning from stick n' bricks to a home on wheels.

After our official "walk though" of the RV, we spent time with Dennis and Nancy, where Verano will be spending her winters. We were treated to fine home cooked meals by Chef Nancy and her assistant chef Glorine. | But with all that great food, we needed to do some strenuous exercise. So we went on a hike in the mountains west of Cochise Stronghold near the Colorado National Forest in Southeast Arizona. Glorine and Nancy found a shady spot to relax amongst some massive rocks that formed a natural cave.
He made it!! After walking up and over huge boulders, Larry took a moment to savor the accomplishment. | Here the three amigos are posing with this breathtaking backdrop of a mountain of massive rocks. The beauty of these rock formations are nearly impossible to grasp on camera.
Balancing rocks. One wonders how long they have been that way and how much longer they will stay that way. | You don't have to go to ancient Egyptian dwellings to find Hieroglyphic writings. They are found all over the mountains of the Southwest. We found these on the trail as we were leaving our hike.
These are not the Lone Rangers, but rather the Long Ranchers. | The four of us went for a morning stroll and came back with a family of four and a couple of dogs.
Dennis got the stove going in their open air kitchen. | And Nancy cooked the meat along with all the fix'ns.
Time to call it a night. After a great meal cooked on the grill and lots of great discussions it was time to say farewell--until next time!! | Our next stop was with Larry's sister Claudia and Lou. We drove from their place near Parker, AZ to Algodones, Mexico to get our teeth fixed and cleaned real cheep. The dentist was so fast that we had time to get a drink at the infamous Green Door--but none of us would want to be here after dark.
With all the talk about the problems on the Mexican border, you would think this line would be real short, but it took us nearly an hour to get back into the USA. | We made it back to Boise just in time for out-of-state guests. Claudia and Lou were heading home to Salem after snow birding in AZ and Jerry and Gloria (friends we made in Mexico) were making their trek from Ajijic to Portland.
After a great meal and a few drinks at the RAM, we took a stroll along Boise's famous Green Belt, a bike/walking trail that runs along the Boise River for 25 miles. The natives claim that this was the warmest day of the season. | Everyone wanted to take a peek at Verano, so Larry started her up, put out the slides and amazed everyone with her size and all the buttons and bells. She is quite the rig.
Gloria's son and his wife live near Boise so they came over to our place to spend time with her and see how the other half (us retirees) live. We played Mexican train and emptied out a bottle of Tequila??!!?? | Jerry had to borrow one of Lou's gag caps to remember how it felt to have a full head of hair. He got a kick out of it.
One last picture to capture a fun filled evening with lots of tomfoolery. Every one needed to get up early the next morning--some to WORK!! and the others a long day's drive back home to Oregon. For us, it would be nose to the grindstone--sorting, packing and getting ready to move some of our stuff to California. |
