As we have been Roaming through Retirement, we have not missed one birthday of our five grandchildren. With these three grandkids living in California and two in Minnesota, we have had a lot of windshield time. So we took an 11-day road trip from Minnesota through Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and into California. We caught this picture at this pumpkin patch, which also included a corn maze, from which we are exiting. After three weeks of bonding with the kid, we flew to Mexico for another five months in the sun. Keep us informed by clicking on the email link Larry and Glorine.

Our first stop was in Omaha. We spend one night each with Glorine's niece Roslyn (pictured here with her puppy) and Larry's nephew Greg. | Larry's brother Bob, lives outside of Lincoln and four of their five children live in the area. Here is Larry with Cindy, Rob, Francie and Bob.
You can take the kid out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the kid. And as farm kids we enjoyed touring this 1,500 milking operation. | Here are three of Bob's children, Jackie, Chad and Rob enjoying a family get together to celebrate Francie as a cancer survivor.
After spending an evening at a hotel in northern Colorado, we woke up to this rare scene for us. It was pretty until we got back on the highway. | We drove out of the snow storm and spend an evening with Larry's niece Sue who has a beautiful home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
On to Arizona where we spent four days with Dennis and Nancy. Here we are hiking in Sabino Canyon filled with beautiful rock formations and lots of cactus. | Always enterprising, Dennis constructed this "tiny house," which is a guest bedroom. They just bought a 24 foot camper which doubles as a kitchen and bath to go with the "tiny house".
On to San Diego, to spend time with Larry's cousin Don and Elsie Barth. A casino buffet, watching the VP debates and breakfast at a winery were our highlights. | Right outside of San Diego is a RV resort where we rented one of the cabins in the background. Carmen and family drove down to join us for the weekend.
We spent the weekend getting reacquainted with the grandchildren. They enjoyed everything the park had to offer--playground, artwork, pool, and game room, etc. | Back home, Hunter got back into his weekly routines. Here Carmen is guiding him as he swings from the bars at his gym class.
Sierra turned five years old on October 25. She is one of the younger kids in kindergarten. | Getting ready to blow out the candles. They all are looking forward to one of Mommy great cupcakes.
Here is Hunter, the conductor of a cable car, one of many trains at this Railway Museum. "On, My Goodness," was one of Hunter's favorite sayings. | Isn't he a cutie?
Papa Larry bought additional tracks that expanded his area of the playroom. He loves his trains. | Nana was asked to read to Sierra's kindergarten class on the day of Sierra's birthday, while the kids were munching on birthday cake.
We got to take care of the kids for four days while Carmen and Mike were attending conferences. The kids are enjoying their school's fall festival. | Dakota turned seven on October 28 and her Mom put together a great party for her and her friends (mostly her girl scout troop.)
Carmen's creativity extended into the snacks she prepared for the party. Hmmmmm! | We and Denise's family bought a group birthday present for Dakota, Sierra and Hunter--this seven foot trampoline. They love it.
On Halloween, all the kids at the elementary school dress up and walk in a parade to show off their costumes. | Papa and the kids carved pumpkins. Here is Sierra posing with one of them. Both with wide smiles.
The night they have all been waiting for--Candy Collection Night. And they all got a big haul from walking around one block. | Carmen thought that as a former architectural draftsmen, Papa could oversee the construction of this ginger bread house. The kids did a great job. |
October's web page includes October 1 through October 31.
